New Farmers Market in Westover

Farmers Markets — @ 6:38 pm

Green Party chairman John Reeder is leading an effort to start a new farmers market in the Westover area of Arlington, on the grounds of the Westover Library/Reed School site. A group of about 20 neighborhood residents are working to get the market up and going by the Spring 2011. Initial ideas are that it would run every Sunday morning from April till late October.

Local farmers and bakers would sell their products at the market. The two most successful farmers markets in the area are held on Saturdays (Arlington Courthouse and Falls Church City). Adding a Sunday market will allow neary Arlington consumers to bike or walk hopefully to buy fresh and local produce, something that helps reduce the use of carbon fuels.

Please use other local Arlington farmer markets and help support our Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania growers. For current locations, check out Field to Fork Network
